  • Things started heating up after Mumtaz slammed Zeenat Aman for suggesting live-in-relationships.
  • Now veteran actress Saira Banu has reacted to this controversy.

Zeenat Aman, the glamour girl of the 70s and 80s has become very active on social media after keeping away from the limelight for more than two decades. She has been giving interviews, sharing her latest pictures on social media, and also views on various aspects of life. Until now it has been a fun ride for Zeenie Baby (as she was fondly called in her heydays) who has been enjoying the interaction and also a warm welcome from the web community.

Things turned a bit controversial when recently Zeenat Aman shared on her Insta post that she would recommend live-in relationships before tying the knot. While most of the netizens agreed to this suggestion, another famous Bollywood star of the 60s and 70s- Mumtaz completely disagreed. Mumtaz, who was the leading lady of Hare Rama Hare Krishna in which Zeenat made her debut, even got a bit personal saying a few words shading the Don actress’ personal life.

In her response, Mumtaz said, “Zeenat should be careful with what she is advising, She has all of a sudden come into this huge social media popularity, and I can understand her excitement about sounding like a cool aunty. But giving advice that is counter to our moral values is not the solution to increasing your following.”

The Aap Ki Kasam actress added, “(Take Zeenat for example)…She knew Mazhar Khan for years before marrying him. Her marriage was a living hell. She should be the last person doling out advice on relationships.”

Instead of taking this further, Zeenat Aman decided to end it by simply saying, “Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I’ve never been one to comment on others' personal lives or tear down my colleagues, and I’m not going to start now."

Saira Banu is not in favour of the live-in relationship trend

While everyone thought that this was the end of this discussion on relationships, now legendary actress Saira Banu has also jumped into this controversial discussion. The Kashmir Ki Kali actress said, “I am not reading much and I don’t follow what they (Mumtaz and Zeenat) are saying, but we are very old-fashioned people. Our trend is 40-50 saal pehle ka (years ago).”

The wife of iconic actor late Dilip Kumar called it “unimaginable and unacceptable” and added “Iss baat se main toh sehmat nahi ho sakti hu kabhi bhi (I can never agree with this statement). I would never advocate live-in relationships like that. It’s something unimaginable and unacceptable for me.”
