After leaving imprints in the minds of movie lovers by portraying Lord Krishna’s character in Oh My God, Akki will be seen as Lord Shiva. However, Paresh has been replaced by Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam will be seen in a pivotal role. While the first installment spoke about faith and the undying human spirit, the second part has been set against the backdrop of sex education in India.

However, as per the latest report, Oh My God 2 will have a theatrical release this year.

As per Pinkvilla’s report, Akshay and the makers have finally decided on the theatrical release of the movie.

Pinkvilla quoted a source close to the development as saying, “Several discussions happened through the course of its making, but, Oh My God 2 was always announced as a theatrical venture. The officials never commented on the OTT release, and even today, the film is being readied as a theatrical venture.”

Further, the source added, “The final edit is being locked and worked upon at this point of time. The theatrical release date of Oh My God 2 will be announced soon.”

Well, if the reports are anything to go by, movie lovers need to wait for an official announcement from the makers which will likely be made soon. However, it’s been a while since the makers released any updates about the movie.

While Akki earlier admitted to being hopeful of the movie, he termed it to be one of the best films in his illustrious acting career.

The source also went on to add that Oh My God 2 is a responsibility and the team is well aware of all the audience's expectations. The release plans are being worked up on behind the scenes at this point in time, and the team is set to bring out their social comedy to the big screen this year.

However, the makers are yet to clarify regarding the buzz over Arun Govil reprising his iconic onscreen character of Lord Rama with which he became a household figure after the epic television series based on the ancient Indian Sanskrit epic Ramayana.
