  • When Prabhas signed Baahubali, he knew that it was a big movie.
  • He decided to dedicate most of his time to it and did not sign a single film in between.

South Indian superstar Prabhas turns a year older today. He has an immense fan following in South India and also has millions of fans across the country and the world. And one reason why he is so famous is the franchise Baahubali. These two movies directed by SS Rajamouli have proved to be a landmark for the entire Indian film industry.

While everyone knows the amount of work the director and the actors put in such an unforgettable experience on the big screen, there are several sacrifices that Prabhas made to ensure that he did justice to his two characters in Baahubali movies.

Gave 4 plus years for Baahubali

When Prabhas signed this film, he knew that it was a big movie and hence he decided to dedicate most of his time to it and did not sign a single film between the making of Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion.

During one of his interviews, the Rebel star said that there was some time in between he had a break of six months and could have done a low-budget movie but he instead decided to focus only on the characters from Baahubali and not to compromise.

Put on a lot of weight

Prabhas put on a lot of weight to look muscular and strong for the role of Mahendra Baahubali. He weighed 86 kgs during the filming of the first movie and 98 kgs when he portrayed Amarendra Baahubali. He needed to develop highly muscular arms and toned legs and for that was advised to play volleyball by his trainers. To ensure that he never misses practicing volleyball he had a court set up at his home.

He increased his weight by eating around 4000 calories every day split into 6 meals. While he was not allowed to eat rice, Prabhas mostly had vegetables, almonds, fish, and egg whites.

Following a particular diet or training for a few months to get the required physique for a movie is quite normal nowadays. But Prabhas continued the same routine for almost 4 years which speaks volumes of his dedication towards his craft.

Turned down 10-crore endorsement deal

Prabhas even turned down a 10-crore endorsement deal that he was offered during the making of Baahubali.

It was important that the physique that he had developed for his character remained under wrap to keep the surprising element around the movie intact. And that is why Prabhas turned down the offer and even avoided being seen in public for long during those years.
