It is rightly said that there is no substitute for hard work, consistency, and determination. Every student, job aspirant, and those preparing for competitive exams must understand that there is no shortcut and everyone has to concentrate without getting sidetracked.

Just a couple of months of sacrifice and hard work can enable anyone to crack India’s toughest exams. A glaring example is IAS officer Divya Mittal. This brilliant mind has cracked the IIT, IIM, and IAS, all of India’s toughest exams.

Hailing from Rewari of Haryana, Divya secured AIR-68 in 2012 UPSC CSE. Before UPSC, she had completed her engineering from the prestigious IIT Delhi and later obtained an MBA from IIM Bangalore.  Divya’s mantra for success is commitment and focus. To achieve the goal, one must remain committed and focused.

Here are some golden tips for UPSC shared by IAS Divya Mittal:

1.    She is of the opinion that one of the primary sources of distractions is using a mobile. She adds that most people don’t account for the enormous amount of time they spend using social media.

2.    She advises people to monitor the use of phone and app usage.

3.    Another advice is to turn off the internet.

4.    She suggests that people should keep the alarm on full volume but away from the bed.

5.    Breaks are necessary after every 3-4 hours of study.

6.    She also focuses on ‘tratak meditation’ by keeping your eyes fixed on a pencil or specific spot on the wall to improve focus.
