After a brief lull, Maoist menace raised its ugly head in Nuapada once again as the Ultras shot dead a man suspecting him to be a police informer late Thursday night.

The barbaric incident was reported from Dhekunapani village located in Sunabeda wildlife sanctuary under Komana police limits.

The deceased has been identified as Anantaram Rout, a residnet of Dhekunapani village. Rout was found face-down with Maoist poster placed on his body.

According to a source, the Maoists swooped down on Rout’s house Thursday night, dragged him out of his house and shot him from close range.

Rout’s body with gunshot injury was found in a pool of blood this morning. Some Maoist posters were also found at the spot.

In one of the posters, the Red Rebels said Rout worked as an SPO and had been in link with Nuapada SP. They also accused him of being instrumental in the police attack on them.

The incident has triggered panic among the villagers.

Though contacted for their reactions, neither the villagers nor the police are divulging anything about the incident.

Worth mentioning, three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were martyred after armed Ultras opened fire at them at Patadhara reserve forest under Nuapada's Boden block on June 21.

The jawans came under the fire of Maoists when they were in a transit from one camp to another camp at around 3 pm.

The martyred jawans were ASI Sisupal Singh, Siblal and Constable Dharmendra Kumar Singh.

Prior to the attack, the ultras had warned against the newly set up CRPF camp at Patadhara by posting banners and posters in the area.
