In a shocking turn of events in the much-hyped Gobinda Sahu death case, his lawyer Durga Mohan Padhi on Saturday claimed that Sahu was alive when the jail authorities were taking him to the hospital on the day of his death.

As per Padhi, Sahu was breathing on his way to the hospital and the claim of his suicide is actually a cover up.

Speaking to OTV, Padhi said, “We were in the court when we heard about the mishap of Gobinda Sahu. When I reached the jail, Sahu was being taken to the hospital; however, he was alive and breathing at that time.”

“I do not believe in the theory of Sahu’s suicide. The circumstantial evidence does not indicate suicide at all,” Padhi said.

Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in the sensational Mamita Meher murder case, had written his last letter to his elder daughter from jail.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch is yet to make it clear as to what evidence it has gathered in the last three days. Crime Branch IG Amitendra Nath Sinha visited Kantabanji jail yesterday and carried out an inspection.

The mystery surrounding the death of Gobinda Sahu deepened further with the family members bringing murder allegations, giving rise to political slugfest.

While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been demanding a CBI inquiry, a delegation of Congress on Thursday met Odisha Governor and demanded an inquiry either by the CBI or by the High Court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT).
