Jajpur police seized counterfeit currency notes worth over Rs 13,00,000 from a rented house at  Santh Mahadev village under Town Police station in Jajpur district on Sunday.

One person, who belongs to Katia area under Mangalpur police limits, has been detained in connection with the case.

As per reports, police raided the rented house late last night after getting an input about the counterfeit currency notes and seized the amount.

Further investigation into the incident is underway after questioning of the detained person.

As per police sources, it is expected that an organised counterfeit currency racket is operating in the area. Police are hopeful of getting some valuable information about the racket from the detained person to get to the root of the case soon.

Police are also likely to question the owner of the rented house in this regard. Odisha government has issued specific guidelines for giving a house on rent like keeping the Aadhar card and enquire about the profession of the renter.
