In a new twist to the mysterious death of Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in the sensational lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case, it is learnt that the deceased had written his last letter to his elder daughter.

At a time when murder and conspiracy theories are doing the rounds, the recovery of the letter from the pocket of Sahu who allegedly committed suicide inside Kantabanji jail on December 20 has assumed importance.

On the brown envelope, Lipika Sahu, care of Sushama Sahu is written. Lipika Sahu is the eldest daughter of Sahu.

Lipika has not received the letter as yet as the letter seized by the police has been handed over to the Crime Branch. As the police didn’t open the envelope fearing it might tamper with the proof, it is yet to be ascertained whether the envelope contains a suicide note or a simple letter to his daughter.

According to sources, a handwritten expert will be engaged to find it out if the handwriting is of Gobinda Sahu.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch is yet to make it clear as to what evidence it has gathered in the last three days. Crime Branch IG Amitendra Nath Sinha had visited Kantabanji jail yesterday and carried out an inspection.

The mystery surrounding the death of Gobinda Sahu deepened further with the family members bringing murder allegations, giving rise to political slugfest.

While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been demanding a CBI inquiry, a delegation of Congress on Thursday met the Governor and demanded an inquiry either by the CBI or by the High Court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT).
