Bhubaneswar: In a gruesome incident, a husband and his wife were hacked to death for allegedly practicing witchcraft in Bandratola area under Sundergarh district, official sources informed on Thursday. Following the incident, police officials have apprehended five people including a woman for their alleged involvement in the heinous act.

While the deceased duo has been identified as Alfas Munda and his wife Floria Munda, the arrested woman has been identified as Pauli Ekka.

According to reports, Pauli Ekka along with four other people attacked Alfas and Floria at around 9 pm on Wednesday and hacked them to death suspecting them to be responsible behind the death of her 2-year-old child as result of witchcraft.

However, police have arrested all of them and investigation is on.

In a similar incident, a tribal had hacked his aunt Chandu Hansadah to death on suspecting her to be practicing witchcraft in Bajarguda village in Mayurbhanj in January earlier this year.
