New Delhi: Inspired by a Hindi movie, a gang of five people duped a businessman in the national capital of over Rs 4 lakh to fulfil their dream of working in Bollywood, but two of them landed in police net. Deepak Kumar and Deepak Mishra were arrested for cheating Tarjeet Singh of over Rs 4 lakh on the pretext of providing him a bank account with over draft facility of Rs 25-30 Lakh.

"Deepak demanded a cheque of Rs 1250/- as processing fees in favour of Dhanlaxmi Bank and also got the relevant papers. He gave his pen to complainant to fill up the details in the cheque. On September 5, a girl informed the complainant over phone that his account will be opened within a week," V Renganathan, Additional Commissioner of Police, West District, said.

A week later, Singh checked the balance in his account and was shocked to find that an amount of Rs 4.10 lakh had been withdrawn by the same cheque. "During investigation, it was revealed that the cheque was encashed by altering the details in the cheque. Deepak Kumar and Deepu were arrested," Renganathan said. He said the gang leader and his woman friend and one more associate are still absconding.

They had watched a movie `Badmash Company` and wanted to make quick money through cheating and changed their original names. After the incident, Deepak flew to Mumbai and purchased a laptop and guitar and started playing guitar to gain entry into the Bollywood, he said.
