At least two persons were killed after a tourist bus from Kolkata rammed into a cement-laden truck in Jajpur district. The incident occurred in Kandhei chhak under Barchana police limits.

The deceased are said to be the driver and helper of the Tourist bus which was en route to Puri from Kolkata. At least 13 passengers have also sustained injuries in the road mishap. As per initial reports, the condition of seven persons is said to be critical and they have been shifted to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Sarat Patra, Inspector-In-Charge of Barchana Police Station said, " The accident occurred around 3:45 am. After getting the information, the night patrol and NH patrolling team rushed to the spot along with police station staff. There were around 60 passengers on the bus."

According to Patra, the bus had caught fire after the accident and immediately fire services department personnel were called and two bodies were pulled out. 

"We had rescued some passengers by breaking the windows. Seven passengers have sustained critical injuries and they have been shifted to Cuttack," Patra added.
