Bangalore: Three persons have been arrested on charges of circulating fake Indian currency notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denomination, allegedly printed in Pakistan and Bangladesh, in parts of the city, police said today.

Bisrath Sheikh, Saddam Hussain-both hailing from West Bengal-and Venkatesh who hailed from Tamil Nadu had in their possession fake currency notes with a total face value of Rs 22 lakh, when they were nabbed, a City Crime Branch police release said.

The arrested confessed during interrogation that these fake notes were printed in Pakistan and Bangladesh and were being transported into India through Bangladesh. Police suspect that there could be more number of persons involved in the racket and a hunt has been launched for them.
