Guwahati: Two persons were killed and two others critically injured when they were hit by shells used during firing practice by army personnel in Assam`s Baksa district today.

Four persons had gone to collect firewood near the Sukanjali firing range in the district when the shells used by the army personnel during practice session hit them killing two persons on the spot and injuring the others.

The dead have been identified as Thomas Murmu and Kamal Basumatary. The injured have been shifted to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital here. Senior police and civil officials visited the spot.
