Letter for CBI probe in seers death sent to Centre: State govt
"The Chief Minister decided on June 15 to recommend the case to CBI and sent the letter to this effect to CBI Director on June 16," Uttarakhand media advisory committee chairman Devendra Bhasin today said.
He was reacting to an allegation levelled by Congress that the state government had not so far sent its recommendation for the CBI probe.
Bhasin said a copy of the letter was also sent to the Union Home Ministry.
36-year-old Nigamanand, who was fasting against illegal mining in the river Ganges, died on June 13, triggering a political blame game with Congress alleging that he had died of poisoning and BJP accusing it of "playing politics" over his death.
