Israeli airstrikes and shelling have hit houses and apartment buildings, with four large residential towers in Gaza City destroyed. Six healthcare workers have been killed and four others injured

The Magen David Adom (MDA) ambulance service said it treated four people wounded in Ashkelon by rocket impacts, including a 75-year-old man, two men aged 55 and 30, and another person.

Kaliappan Kumarasamy, who was undergoing treatment at a drug rehabilitation centre located within Changi Prison, pleaded guilty to voluntarily causing grievous hurt to chief warder Lim See Chuan, 41.

On Saturday, Israel officially declared war in response to a series of unprecedented large-scale attacks launched by the Gaza-based Palestinian militant group, Hamas.

The Israel and Palestinian territories are not oil producers, but the Middle Eastern region accounts for almost a third of global supply.

Amid the deteriorating Indo-Canadian tensions over the killing of pro-Khalistan separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, India has asked Canada to withdraw 41 diplomats from New Delhi by October 10.

His comment comes amid a raging diplomatic fracas with India following Canada's allegation that Indian officials are involved in the murder of a Canadian citizen.

On Sunday night, the Israeli Health Ministry updated the number of injuries in Israeli hospitals, reporting that at least 2,243 were wounded, including 22 in critical condition, Xinhua news agency reported.

The pilgrims, however, said that they were safe and had communicated to their families back home.

Terming the attack "appalling" and "unconscionable", US President Joe Biden said "there is never any justification for terrorism." 

Stating that she received many messages last night about Indians in Israel, she told reporters that the Prime Minister's office is directly supervising the situation.

IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said forces are fighting in (Kibbutz) Kfar Aza and searches are on in a large number of towns, The Times of Israel reported.
