Odisha and Odias across the globe are celebrating the state’s 85th Foundation Day today. Utkal Divas is celebrated on April 1 every year to remember the formation of Odisha after years of struggle to be recognized as an independent state. On this day, the entire state tunes into a festivity mood with public cultural programs and indulging in Odia cuisine and delicacies.
However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Utkal Divas celebrations were low-key unlike the past years but this didn’t stop Odia across the globe to celebrate the day in their own little ways whether it was by eating Odia cuisine or by giving people a peek into their handloom collection.
Take a look at how the people are wishing and celebrating on the occasion of Utkal Divas –

From 'Udiya ek ta bhasa noye' to getting classical status for 'Odia language' this state has seen a lot and suffered a lot. Odia and #Odisha came a long way till then.
A tribute to all of them who suffered for the identity of this great state.💐
Happy #UtkalaDibasa to all.🙏 pic.twitter.com/nrfewVaqh4
