Riya Sen, Parno Mitra win Star Guide Awards

Kolkata: Riya Sen and Parno Mitra were adjudged the best actors for their performances in `Naukadubi` and national award winner `Ranjana Ami Aar Asbona` respectively by the Star Guide Awards.

Filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee was chosen as the director in the non-commercial segment while Raj Chakraborty was selected as the best director (commercial), by Star Guide, the only database of Bengali films, singers, technicians, press and media houses, production houses, directors.

Popular Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh was chosen as the `Best Actor` in non-commercial segment for the portrayal of a tramp in family events in Chaplin while Indranil Ghosh received Best Art Director cap for `Iti Mrinalini`.

The Best Screenplay award went to Shiboprasad and Nandita Roy for critically acclaimed `Ichhe`, while Soumik Halder received the best Cinematographer crown for `Baishe Srabon` in a programme held on Sunday evening.

The 93.5 Red FM Best playback singer (female) went to eminent classical singer Kaushiki Desikan while emerging young singer Anupam Roy was chosen for the 93.5 Red Fm Best playback singer (male) award.

Film editor Arghakamal Maitra was chosen for Ami Adu which had also won the best Bengali feature film 58th national award as Rituparna Sengupta was chosen for the Best Actress (Commercial) honour for Jiyo Kaka.

In the debut categories actress Nusrat Jahan was chosen for `Shotru` while Gaurav Chakroborty was picked up for `Rang Milanti` and Soham Maitra as Best Child Artist for `Chaplin`.

In the music category young, famous Bengali poet Srijato was made the best lyricist in Chaplin. In Best Supporting Actress categories Locket Chaterjee was crowned for Necklace and Sohini Sengupta for Ichhe.

The award, which is one of the premier and coveted ones in Tollygunje industry, made `Bye Bye Bangkok` as the Best Film Commercial and `Ami Adu` as Non-Commercial. Actor Dev was made the Best Actor (Commercial) for Paglu.

Tollywood superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee said the award was unique as it also gave due recognition to make-up artistes and other technicians.
