Vadodara: The victims of post-Godhra riots in Gujarat can not forgive or forget those responsible for the communal violence, human rights activist and actress Nandita Das said on Monday.

"Those who lost their near and dear ones in the 2002 communal riots can not forget and forgive those responsible for them," she said while talking to reporters here.

Money cannot compensate the loss suffered by the families of the deceased, she maintained. Das was in the city to take part in a seminar organised by a women`s research group.

To a question, she said development of a few cities like Ahmedabad and Vadodara could not be taken as a yardstick for growth of entire Gujarat. "What is the position in Saurashtra and Kutch regions?" Das asked and said development must be inclusive.
