Woman found hanging near Bolangir railway station, murder alleged

Bolangir: A day after the Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered the body of a woman hanging from a tree behind the Bolangir Railway Station, the investigation took a new twist after the family of the deceased woman claimed that she has been murdered by her husband.

Reportedly, Pushpanjali Barik’s body was recovered on Monday noon while her husband Matia Barik’s phone has remained switched off since then and he has been absconding, sources said.

As Matia has gone untraceable, the woman’s family members lodged a police complaint against him alleging his involvement in the case. “My brother-in-law (Matia) always fought with my sister and even used to beat her. He used to doubt her and beat her every moment. It is only him who has killed my sister,” alleged Manas Barik, Pushpanjali’s brother.

On the other hand, Bolangir GRP has registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
