Bhubaneswar: Heavy rains lashed the temple city on Wednesday evening leaving people in tizzy. The gushing water, for some time, gave an impression similar to opening of sluice gates in reservoirs.
The incessant rains that lasted for a few hours left people in chaos.
People on the streets soon found themselves wading through the waist-deep water, while their vehicles have been swept away by heavy water currents through which some were pushing bamboo sticks with the hope of finding a way across the streets.
And inside the houses, the situation was no better as the household articles including the utensils were found floating on the surface of the house.
The denizens of Archarya Vihar area here alleged that they face similar situation during rainy season every year due to poor drainage system.
