Bhubaneswar: The Central Site Selection Committee will visit the capital city on December 23 for choosing a location for setting up of the permanent campus of the proposed Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Odisha, said sources.

The team led by Amarjit Sinha, Secretary of Higher Education under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) would visit the two sites, one near IIIT in Gothapatna and other one near new IIT campus in Arugul. Both the sites considered as the outskirts of the capital city.

Sources added the state government is giving priority to the Gothapatna site for establishing IIM citing presence of industrial units near to the place. IIIT, Birla Institute of Management and Technology, International Management Institute, Nalco’s I&D Centre and STPI are located near to the selected location.

Besides, the location is 15 kms away from the city airport and connected with 100ft road constructed by BDA.

The site selection team would include two senior officials from IIM Kolkata, Secretary of State Technical Education and Training Department and Khurda Collector.
