Hand chopping case in Balangir: 3 more held

Balangir: Following the macabre incident wherein a group of miscreants chopped off both hands of a youth at Raghabpalli village in Bolangir district on July 7 over past enmity, three more persons were arrested today for their alleged involvement in the ghastly crime.

Notably, just a day after the incident, the police had arrested three accused – Gopinth Bhoi, Ajit Biswal and Lingaraj Gidela of Raghavpali village, who have criminal records and were recently arrested in a separate case.

The incident had taken place on July 7 when a group of 15-20 youths attacked the victim Khirod Mishra and chopped off both his hands.

The assailants flee the spot after committing the ghastly act. A profusely bleeding Khirod was first rushed to Burla hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack when his condition deteriorated.
