Jajpur: At least four persons were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Kaipara village in Jajpur district, police said. Bombs were hurled during the clash that took place on Monday night, police said. Four persons were injured and admitted to the government hospital at Bari.

Police said the dispute began when a member from one group passed some derogatory remarks about some of the members of other group who were sitting at a tea stall at the village last night. Two separate FIRs were lodged in connection with the clash with Bari police station. The police have arrested three persons involved in the incident.

"One platoon (30 personnel) of armed police force has been deployed at the village. Though the situation is tense, it has been controlled. We have arrested three persons so far and rest will be rounded up soon," said Bamadev Nanda, officer-in-charge of Bari police station. Political rivalry between the groups for the last couple of years, is stated to be the reason behind the clash on Monday, Nanda added.
