From losing 10 kilos to getting six-pack abs at the age of 43, the fitness journey of well-known author Ankur Warikoo is praise-worthy. The well-known author, entrepreneur, and content creator has battled all odds to be in the best shape of his life.

He was diagnosed with a medical condition called ‘Avascular Necrosis’ which resulted in the decay of his right hip bone. He was advised by doctors to stop walking. He had to undergo surgery and was on bed rest for months and even had to use crutches for 5 months.

Despite all the obstacles, he decided to change his lifestyle for good. He decided to join a gym and begin his fitness journey.

“In a moment of craziness, I decided I would run a marathon! I joined a gym for the first time in my life. And started to run,” shared Ankur while sharing his before and after pictures of his transformation.

In a long social media post, he shared his journey and wrote, “In 2012, at the age of 32, I was told to stop walking. I was diagnosed with a medical condition called Avascular Necrosis. My right hip bone had started decaying because the blood supply to it had stopped. It felt like my life was going to change.”

He continued, “I underwent surgery, was on bed rest for 3 months, crutches for 5 months. I recovered, but… Life told me to stop walking. How could I tell life that this chapter is over for me and I have won? In a moment of craziness, I decided I will run a marathon! I joined a gym for the first time in my life. And started to run.”

“But I hadn’t had any physical activity for months. I was fat and inflexible. I hated running (still do!) It was really hard. But I kept going. 10 months later, I completed the half-marathon of 21 kms. I thought I would feel great about it. But I felt the opposite,” he added.

His post further read, “I felt I had cheated, because up until that day, the maximum I had ever run was 14 kms. So I could have showed up any day and finished the 21 kms. It didn’t require me to show up every day. I thought to myself: “What is it that I can do for which I will have to prepare each and every day?” And in another moment of craziness, at the age of 33, I found myself saying 6-pack abs! My body fat percentage as of that day was 26%. Abs show when body fat reaches sub-10% levels! I needed to change my entire life.”

“My diet, my sleep schedule, my fitness regime. And I did. I got the 6-pack abs. I got fit. Working out became a daily affair. 10 years later (2024), I decided to go through the journey again and get the 6-pack abs. Today, I am 43 and “fat-free”!” he further stated.

“And I know that this routine, lifestyle, and mindset which started 10yrs back, will stay with me for life. I released a YouTube video documenting the journey, hopefully inspiring more people to take charge of their health.”
