Acid attack on Balasore girl; police forms 3-member team to nab culprits

 

Balasore: A 28 -year-old girl sustained critical injuries after two youths allegedly threw acid on her at the Police Line Chhak under Sahdevkhunta police station in Balasore district today.

The survivor was initially rushed to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack after her condition deteriorated. The girl has received serious burn injuries on her face, chest and hand, informed sources.

As per reports, the girl and her friend were on their way to the market when the two miscreants intercepted them and hurled a bottle of acid on her before fleeing the spot.

“The survivor, my niece, used to live with us,” said the man claiming to be the girl’s uncle while lodging an FIR.

The attack is being suspected to be a fallout of past enmity, sources said.

“A complaint regarding the acid attack has been received. A case has been registered under Sec 326 (A) and investigation has begun,” informed SP of Balasore, B.Jugal Kishore. A three-member team has been formed to investigate the case, informed the official.
