New Delhi: Nepal President Ram Baran Yadav has expressed confidence that challenges before his country, passing through a phase of transition, would be over with the support of a friendly country like India.

Lauding India`s democracy, Yadav said his countrymen should look towards India other than Europe and America as the neighbouring country has witnessed fourteen successful general elections with active participation of people.

Yadav made the remarks last night while addressing a meeting organized in his honour here by Nepal Democratic Solidarity Committee in which leaders of almost all parties were present.

Committee Chairman D P Tripathi, who is also NCP general secretary, underlined India`s contribution to Nepal`s struggle for democracy.

Others who attended the meeting included NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi, senior BJP leader Murali Manohar Joshi, party MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, CPI general secretary A B Bardhan, CPI-M MP D Raja, JD-U President Sharad Yadav and SP leader Mohan Singh.
