Dhaka: Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves reached $27.45 billion at the end of December 2015, said a central bank official on Sunday.

The Bangladesh Bank official said the country's foreign exchange reserves stood at $27,448.88 million in December after reaching $26,407.63 million in November, Xinhua reported.

The country's foreign exchange reserves in October 2015 touched the level of $27 billion for the first time.

Bangladesh, with a population of about 153 million, needs a reserve of about $10 billion to meet its import bills for three months in the light of an internationally accepted standard.
