Islamabad: At least 24 militants were killed on Sunday in airstrikes by the Pakistan armed forces conducted in the country's Khyber Agency and North Waziristan tribal regions, media reports said.

Fourteen militants were killed in an air assault in Tirah Valley, Geo News reported citing sources.

Ten other militants were killed in airstrikes in North Waziristan's Shawal Gurez area, it said.

According to sources, six militants were injured in the air assault.

Several militant hideouts were also destroyed, the report said.

Syrian forces kill 30 militants in southern province

Damascus: At least 30 militants were killed and many others injured in a security operation by the Syrian army in the southern province of Daraa, reports said on Sunday.

The military forces on Saturday evening destroyed weaponry and rocket launchers in an operation that took place in Daraa, reported Xinhua, adding that two militant groups were eliminated in Daraa al-Balad area.

Last Thursday, a coalition of 51 militant and jihadi groups declared the start of a major offensive to drive government forces out of Daraa.

The offensive, dubbed "Storm of the South", aimed to take control of the entire city of Daraa and its vicinity, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
