Dr Pradeep Mahapatra, the former Head of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication dept in Berhampur University and a noted senior journalist of Odisha, passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. Dr Mahapatra was 69 years old. According to the hospital authorities, he breathed his last at around 2:30 am. The mortal remains of the late media academician were taken to his home in Berhampur, where his last rites would take place. Mahapatra was brought to Bhubaneswar after he fell ill a few days back. As per his medical reports, he was diagnosed with critical stage of pneumonia and was on a ventilator support at a private hospital facility in Bhubaneswar.
