Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw took to Twitter and shared that the kin of the deceased would get a compensation of Rs 10 lakh, those with grievous injuries Rs 2 lakh and Rs 50,000 for those who suffered minor injuries.
As per initial reports, all the affected persons are from Baliguda, Ghataguda and Budhari villages. Sources said that the villagers had consumed the ice creams sold by a trader. Later, they complained of vomiting, stomach ache and loose motion in the night.
Around 60 platoons of police force have been deployed for maintaining law and order and other traffic arrangements. Puri Police has also issued a detailed traffic advisory so that devotees coming to the holy town do not face any problems.
