In the financial year of 2021-22, the state budget for Odisha may cross Rs 1.70 lakh crore. With the rising inflation, economic slowdown due to COVID-19 and a strong possibility of a reduction in State’s share from Central taxes, the Odisha Government’s budget may cross Rs 1.70 lakh crore, said former finance minister, Panchanan Kanungo.

Water gushed in and destroyed acres of farmland in Ektaguda area under Koraput district after a breach in the embankment of the main canal of the upper Kolab dam. Four members of a family suffered serious burn injuries after their house caught fire at Hari Om Vihar area under Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda on Sunday (January 10). Reports said that their house caught fire while they were asleep at night in which a woman, her son, married daughter and granddaughter sustained serious burn injuries.

Devotees will not be required to produce COVID-19 negative report for entering into the 12th century shrine at Puri from January 21 according to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA). The decision will remain in force till February 21.
