In an unfortunate incident, one person was killed and more than 15 others were injured after a picnic bus overturned near Dumbalpadara area on Gajapati-Rayagada border today. The deceased has been identified as Sunil Sahu, a native of Bhubaneswar. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Mohana.
According to the director of Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, the minimum temperature will decrease by 3-4 degrees Celsius gradually from January 21 over the districts of Odisha. However, night temperature may rise in the next couple of days over the districts of interior and coastal Odisha. Following that temperatures are likely to decline.
Two huge pythons were rescued during the canal digging work at Pali Gumula village on the outskirts of Berhampur town. One of the pythons managed to enter the engine bay of the earthmoving machine engaged in the work. Both the snakes were rescued by the snake helpline members.
Renowned social activist and labour leader Lalit Nayak passed away today while undergoing treatment at Bhubaneswar AIIMS. Lalit was reportedly undergoing treatment for cancer for the last 6 months. He was also infected with COVID-19. He had been shifted from Bolangir to AIIMS recently after his health conditions deteriorated.
The Keonjhar Town police today detained the prime accused, Sanjay Mohanty in connection with the attack bid on Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik. The police are interrogating the accused regarding the motive behind the attack.
