The Supreme Court has held that a woman, who was in a relationship with a man and willingly staying with him, cannot file a case of rape, after the relationship had gone sour.
It further added that the world acknowledges that children in conflict with law should be treated differently than adults.
These include a plea by armed forces aspirants seeking an urgent hearing in the matter stating the scheme should not be made applicable to those who are already undergoing the selection process.
The top court was hearing the plea of the news anchor who is facing FIRs in some states for playing a doctored clip of Gandhi.
The bench made it clear that it has not stayed the investigation in the FIR.
Advocate C.R. Jaya Sukin, in a letter, said in a TV interview Justice Dhingra asserted that the top court has no right to make such remarks and the court imposed a charge and gave a verdict without listening to Sharma.
The Supreme Court had on July 1 come down heavily on Sharma for her controversial comments against Prophet Mohammad.
The bench made it crystal clear to her lawyer, senior advocate Maninder Singh, that it is not keen on entertaining her plea.
Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Prabhu, contended before a vacation bench of Justices Surya Kant and J.B. Pardiwala that the Governor is bound to act on the aid and advice of the Council of Ministers.
Earlier, the apex court on June 27 had kept in abeyance the disqualification proceedings against rebel Shiv Sena MLAs before the Deputy Speaker of the state Assembly till July 11.
The top court also extended, till July 12, the time granted by Deputy Speaker to the 16 dissident MLAs to submit their written responses to the disqualification notice, and asked the Maharashtra government to ensure protection of all rebel Shiv Sena MLAs and their family members.
The bench said the appeal filed by Zakia Jafri is "devoid of merits and deserved to be dismissed".
The plea argued that of late, there is a concerted pan-India effort by political parties to render the provisions of the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution otiose and redundant.
The plea has sought directions to the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar, Haryana and Rajasthan governments to submit a status report on the violent protests.
On May 30, the apex court had declined to urgently list the plea against the practice of 'Talaq-e-Hasan'.
