In a good news for nature lovers and tourists, the Similipal National Park, which was closed for the last few months, will reopen for tourists from November 1.

Tourists can book tickets online on a first come and first serve basis by logging into www.similipal.com and odishatourism.gov.in.

The operation of the jungle safari vehicles will also remain closed from today. The date of reopening of the Tiger Reserve will be notified later.

Drones will be used to help forest guards facing problems in the jungle. Besides, they will be used to drop ration and medicines in the interior parts of the forest inaccessible by road.

Forest fire is an annual phenomenon in the UNESCO biosphere reserve in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district that is home to rich biodiversity.

As per reports, some deer sneaked into Nihangandi village under Thakurmunda forest range after they were chased by street dogs.

The instances of forest fire in Similipal reserve forest has been reduced in 2022 as compared to the instances reported last year (2021), informed the Odisha Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Sashi Paul on Tuesday.

Notably, it has been raining in Mayurbhanj district for the past two days due to which a heavy veil of fog has blanketed the region and it might have an impact on safari visitors.

While many of them are unable to find work for them, many families are unable to manage household chores with the interest gained on the Rs 10Lakh compensation they reportedly received two years back during the displacement.

The authorities said that most trails in the park have become slushy under the impact of rainfall for last few days and thick blanket of fog engulfing the national park could become dangerous for the travelers or safari, so it has been decided to keep visitors away from the biosphere reserve.
