As per tradition, the Holy Trinity falls sick after taking sahasradhara bath with 108 pitchers of water on Devasnana Purnima.  They are then taken to a sick room called Anasara Ghara where they recuperate for a fortnight under the supervision of the royal physicians. 

As devotees in large numbers are expected to throng Srimandir, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has made elaborate arrangements for the 'Nabajoubana Darshan' to ensure hassle-free darshan at the 12th century shrine.

With Odissi dance form having a strong connection with the Jagannath culture, the dance artistes are eagerly waiting to serve their artistic offering to the Lord of the Universe. 

Patnaik also directed the concerned officials to make special arrangements in view of the prevailing heatwave condition in the state.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed all departments to take special measures for the smooth conduct of the festival and draw up plans for devotees in view of the heatwave conditions. Patnaik virtually attended the last Rath Yatra coordination meeting held today.

As only six days are left to the Netra Utsav, which is celebrated after 14 days of the deities’ Anasara period, the Darji servitors are working round the clock to finish the stitching of the canopy coverings of the three chariots.

The annual festival of nine-day sojourn of the sibling deities to their aunt’s place, or Gundicha temple, is celebrated on the second day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Aashadha. 

The set of guidelines will particularly be strictly followed from Rath Yatra to Niladri Bije of Lord Jagannath and his siblings.

According to sources, as many as 180 platoons of police force will be deployed in Puri for the smooth and timely conduct of the Rath Yatra, which will see a footfall of lakhs of devotees from across the globe. 

While the base oil of this ‘Phuluri Tela’ is hand-pressed sesame oil,  24 ingredients including some flowers such as Ketaki, Malli, Boula and Champa and some barks and roots, sandalwood powder, camphor, rice grains are mixed to prepare the special oil. 

The district and temple administrations have been asked to make special arrangements for the early darshan of the deity by old, physically disabled and differently-abled persons, women and children.

Deba Snana Purnima or Snana Yatra is believed to be the birthday of Lord Jagannath. Because of this, the festival assumes importance. The main attraction of the festival is the Hati Besha of the deities, which is conducted after the Chhera Panhara ritual.

Once completed, the bridge will allow vehicles coming from Bhubaneswar and Brahmagiri to reach the Jagannath Vallabh parking spot directly by avoiding city traffic. 

There are several battery-operated cars running in Puri town to carry elderly and Divyang passengers to Lord Jagannath temple. The mishap occurred today when one of such cars was returning from the temple after dropping off some passengers.
