Several parts of Odisha are likely to witness rainfall activities under the influence of the low pressure, the IMD predicted.

Heavy rain over the last three days has caused a flood-like situation in southern Odisha's Malkangiri district, as large parts have been cut off due to water logging and submersion of roads, an official said on Thursday.

“If such negligence continues, then many more deaths will occur and the administration will be responsible for it,” he added.

In the monthly temperature outlook for July, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday said the monthly rainfall over the country as a whole during July 2023 is most likely to be normal (94 to 106 % of Long Period Average (LPA) and most probably within positive side of the normal.

The districts are Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Angul, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.

However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday said that Southwest monsoon seasonal (June to September) rainfall over the country as a whole is most likely to be normal (96 to 104% of Long Period Average (LPA).

As per the IMD, Odisha is likely to witness thunderstorm activity with lightning and gusty winds under the influence of western disturbance.

Thunderstorm, rainfall, lightning and gusty wind may be experienced during this period.

According to the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur was the hottest city on Monday, recording 38.7 degrees Celsius.  

As per IMD, there would be a marginal rise in the maximum temperature by two to three degrees in the state. The maximum temperature is likely to be within 38 to 39 degrees in Odisha in the next two to three days.

The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain and thunderstorm activities in several parts of Odisha in the next 48 hours. The IMD has also issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning in 9 districts in the next 24 hours.

Rain may occur in many interior and coastal districts under the impact of the western disturbance between March 7 and 10.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday predicted rainfall activities in several parts of Odisha from next week. As per IMD, there will be no large change in the minimum temperature (Night Temperature) over the districts of Odisha during the next five days.
