A low-pressure area has been formed over the Northwest coast of Odisha today under the influence of cyclonic circulation, informed the India Meteorological Department (MD) on Thursday.

Several parts of Odisha are likely to witness rainfall activities under the influence of the low pressure, the IMD predicted.

Taking to Twitter, Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar wrote in Odia, “A low pressure area has formed over the north-west coast of Odisha today under the influence of yesterday's cyclonic circulation. The associated cyclonic circulation is active at a height of 7.6 km in the atmosphere; this low pressure area is likely to pass over Odisha in the next two days in the west-northwest direction.”

Day-1: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 20.07.2023 to 0830 Hrs IST of 21.07.2023.)

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.

Yellow Warning: Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Cuttack, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir and Bargarh.

Day-2: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 21.07.2023 to 0830 Hrs IST of 22.07.2023)

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sonepur, Bolangir, Sambalpur, Boudh, Angul, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Sundargarh.

Day-3: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 22.07.2023 to 0830 Hrs IST of 23.07.2023)

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Kalahandi.
Yellow Warning: Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Nuapada, Bargarh and Sambalpur.

Day-4: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 23.07.2023 to 0830 Hrs IST of 24.07.2023)

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati.

Yellow Warning: Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nabarangpur and Bolangir.
