A 50-year-old police sub-inspector was shot dead in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Saturday. In a tweet, the J&K Police said that Farooq Ahmed Mir's body was found in paddy fields near his home in Samboora village.

Bargarh SP Rahul Jain informed that an officer of DSP rank has been entrusted with the responsibility for carrying out the investigation into the incident. 

These images purportedly show how police are being attacked by a mob. The visuals are from Toranpada village under Bhadrak tehsil. As many as four police personnel, including a woman constable from the Sabaranga Police Station were injured in the incident.
