As prices of petroleum products have now been aligned to market rates, fuel prices will rise each time, global crude prices rise and the rupee falls against the dollar

In Capital Bhubaneswar, petrol and diesel cost Rs 103.63 and Rs 95.15 respectively.

Customers have to pay Rs 103.11 per litre of petrol in Bhubaneswar while diesel is being sold at Rs 95.68 a litre. In Cuttack, customers are paying Rs 103.54 and Rs 95.10 per litre of petrol and diesel, respectively.

Earlier today, uncertainty was looming over the announced VAT reduction by the State government. As claimed before, overall, each litre of the fuel would reduce by Rs 3. However, questions were raised, how a slash of 4% VAT on the fuels will bring down the price of a litre fuel by Rs 3. 

The price of petrol has just hit a high ceiling in the Malkangiri district of Odisha. In breaking all its previous records, the petrol price in Kalimela area of the district has touched Rs 100 per litre of the oil.
