The State government has decided to issue temporary permits for a period of four months to such vehicles under clause (d) of sub-section (1) of section 87 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
The STA, which is known for its innovative ideas to promote road safety, rode on the popularity of the SS Rajamouli directorial to draw the attention of the public towards obeying traffic rules.
As per government data, drunken driving led to 648 road accidents in the State in 2020 alone which resulted in as many as 298 fatalities.
