The self-styled rationalists seem to behave most irrational when they resort to public display of gluttony when the need of the hour is to abstain from food.
The SJTA has revised Puri Srimandir rituals and timings of food abstinence for people on the lunar eclipse day.This lunar eclipse coincides with Kartik Purnima, November 8.
Since Kartik Purnima will also be celebrated on the day, scholars and astrologers were advised to reschedule all the rituals and offerings of different prasads.
On solar eclipse day, rationalists in Bhubaneswar embarked on a very public Biryani feast, and consequently, the social media discourse quickly devolved into an abuse fest.
NASA said this partial eclipse is ultra-long because the moon is almost at the farthest part from the Earth in its orbit (known as apogee), which means the moon is moving a bit slower through the shadow of Earth.
The maximum partial eclipse will be visible at 2.34 pm as 97 per cent of the moon will be covered by the Earth's shadow.
