The villagers said those protesting the proposed JSW steel plant were intentionally kept away from the hearing.
As per an earlier direction of the HC, the committee, comprising lawyers, had visited Dhinkia which was on the boil in January after police baton charged betel farmers who protested a drive to evict betel vineyards to pave way for the proposed JSW steel plant.
This new development has provided the Opposition parties a peg to hang their attack on the BJD government for being in a tearing hurry to facilitate the JSW to set up its project.
The Orissa High Court has also directed the Jagatsinghpur district Collector to take steps to ensure that the normal life of the people in Dhinkia area is not affected.
