After a detailed hearing in the matter, the top court dismissed the pleas seeking postponement of the exam in the backdrop of third Covid wave.
It has been said that nine lakh students are appearing in the test at 200 centrea and the authorities have not issued any Covid-appropriate guidelines for conducting the exam.
Candidates have been demanding postponement of GATE 2020 in view of the recent surge in Covid-19 cases across the country.
It may be noted that this year GATE 2022 will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and six other Indian Institutes of Technology at Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Chennai, Roorkee and Indian Institute of Science at Bengaluru
The last date to apply for GATE 2022 is September 24 and the examination will be held on February 5, 6, 12, and 13, 2022.
