The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur has launched the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering GATE 2022 official website and invited online applications from candidates to apply for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022.

Interested and eligible students can apply through the newly launched official website of GATE- https://gate.iitkgp.ac.in/.

Candidates can register themselves between August 30 and September 24, 2021. The examination will be held on February 5, 6, 12, and 13, 2022.

It may be noted that this year GATE 2022 will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and six other Indian Institutes of Technology at Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Chennai, Roorkee and Indian Institute of Science at Bengaluru on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria:

Currently studying in the 3rd or higher year of any undergraduate degree programme or has already completed a government-approved degree programme in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts.

Application Fee for GATE 2022:

  • Female candidates (per paper): Rs 750 & Rs 1250 (extended period)
  • SC/ST/ PwD category candidates (per paper): Rs 750 & Rs 1250 (extended period)
  • All other candidates (per paper): Rs 1500 & Rs 2000 (Extended period)

Examination Pattern & Mode: Computer Based Test (CBT)

Duration: 3 hours, 

Number of Subjects (Papers): 29

Sections: General Aptitude (GA) + Candidate's Selected Subject(s).

Type of Questions: (a) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) (b) Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and/or Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions

Questions for testing these abilities: Recall, Comprehension, Application, Analysis and Synthesis.

  • Display of defective applications for rectification: October 26, 2021

  • Last date for change of paper, category, & exam city (with additional fee): November 12, 2021
  • Admit Card will be available for download: January 3, 2022
  • GATE 2022 Examination: February 5, 6, 12 and 13 in the year 2022.
