The Election Commission on Monday said over Rs 1,760 crore worth of freebies, drugs, cash, liquor and precious metals aimed at inducing voters in the five poll-going states have been seized so far.
Addressing a presser, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar today announced the dates for elections in these five states.
The poll panel will announce the schedule during a press conference at 12 noon.

The conditions are laid out in the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968, which are amended from time to time, for recognition of a political party as 'state party' or a 'national party' by the EC.
The Commission said that the AAP has been nominated as a national party according to its electoral performance in four states namely Delhi, Goa, Punjab and Gujarat. The Arvind Kejriwal-led party is in power in Delhi and Punjab.

The complainants alleged that the BJD candidate, Rajeev Kahanra has submitted the bogus caste certificate, but the election commission officials have not initiated any action against him so far even if all the proofs pertaining to the alleged cheating have been furnished.
Lawyers, representing Thackeray, argued that Shinde group, being termed original Shiv Sena, would now issue a whip to them to vote in its favour, failing which fresh disqualification proceedings could be initiated against them. Shinde group said it would not precipitate the matter.

The voting is being held across 14,382 polling stations, of which 3,311 are in the urban and 11,071 in rural areas, the office of the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said.
Advocate Prashant Bhushan, representing a petitioner, raised the issue in connection with the appointment of Goel. He said Goel was a sitting Secretary, was given voluntary retirement on Friday, the appointment was issued on Saturday, and on Monday, he started working as EC.
Goel, a retired IAS officer from Punjab Cadre of the 1985 batch, was appointed to the post by President Droupadi Murmu on November 19
