Jyoti fondly named Raja, a Class-X student, fell into a drain in Shatabdi Nagar area while cycling his way to tuition at about 2 pm on Sunday afternoon and was swept away by the gushing floodwater.

Odisha Congress Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, Niranjan Patnaik alleged that such mishaps are recurring due to negligence and callous attitude of the State government.

These are the cries of the crestfallen family of Jyoti Prakash Behera, who died after falling into a flooded open sewer in Bhubaneswar. Time and again, torrential rainfall has brought the smart city Bhubaneswar to its knees.

A child was also killed in a similar accident in 2018 while an elderly woman also had to lose her life after falling into a stormwater channel in 2019.
