Odisha government on Monday informed that as many as 129 cases of black fungus have been reported from the State so far while a total of 18 people have succumbed to the fatal disease. As per sources, Ganjam and Khordha districts have reported 21 cases each while 8 cases of infection have been confirmed in Balasore.
At present there are four patients admitted at VIMSAR are suffering from black fungus. Two more patients have symptoms for mucormycosis fungal infection while their clinical examinations are underway.
The mortality rate is 54 per cent in black fungus infection. In India, the current fatality rate is 3 per cent. Cases in Odisha grew by 66 per cent between March 25-30. Keep a watch on breads and other soft vegetables or fruits like Apples
