New Delhi: Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has demolished 17 flats constructed unauthorisedly at the Commonwealth Games Village in east Delhi. The flats, which were constructed at the upper basement of the spacious CWG Village, have been demolished, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.

"DDA has informed that when the project developer submitted the completion plan it was revealed that it had constructed 17 flats in the upper basement unauthorisedly," Minister of State for Urban Development Saugata Roy said.

"DDA has demolished the flats," he said in a written reply. The construction of excess flats came to DDA`s notice when a joint team of the project developer and the agency carried out the actual measurement of Floor Area Ratio. "DDA has sent a proposal to the Ministry of Urban Development for regularising the excess FAR," he said.

The DDA`s proposal is being submitted to the GoM on the findings and recommendations of the High Level Committee constituted to look into the issues relating to organising and conduct of CWG 2010, he added.
