Hyderabad: The 10th edition of annual biotechnology and life sciences platform BioAsia will be held at HICC here from January 28.

Over 600 delegates besides 2,000 visitors from around 45 foreign countries are expected to take part in the three-day BioAsia-2013 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre here.

With the theme of biologics and biosimilars, the discussions will be focused on drug discovery monoclonal antibodies, regenerative medicine, intellectual property rights, financial eco-system, BioAsia CEO Shakti Nagappan told reporters here on Tuesday.

In addition, a parallel event, AgBioAsia 2013 focusing on agricultural biotechnology and food technology with the support of International Crops Research Institute for the Semi Arid Trophics (ICRISAT) will also be held, he said.

AgBioAsia 2013 is based on the theme 'Trends and technological advancements in agriculture: a special focus on biotechnological interventions', he said.

"Over the last decade, BioAsia has successfully established itself as a platform that has added significant momentum to the growth of biotechnology arena," Nagappan said.

Spain will be the country partner and GVK Biosciences will be the principal industry sponsor for BioAsia 2013, which has also joined hands with Victoria (Australia), the international state partner for the event, he said.

The event will also see participation of top officials from biopharma, biotech and health regulatory agencies from across the globe, he added.

BioAsia 2013 is being hosted by Andhra Pradesh government with the support of Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) and Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil), Nagappan said.
