Weather Alert: Nor’wester rain to lash Odisha for next 5 days
Bhubaneswar: After reeling under intense heat wave conditions, the people in several parts of Odisha can expect a sharp drop in temperature as the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar has predicted Nor’wester rain in the next 24 hours.
As per the latest forecast, Nor’wester rain would lash North and north coastal districts including Sundergarh, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh and Keonjhar for the next five days.
Similarly, several parts in southern Odisha- Sonepur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Rayagada will also experience thunderstorms, informed Ramesh Kumar Nayak, a senior official of the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.
“We have issued warning for Nor’wester rain for north Odisha districts and people have been asked to remain alert,” said Nayak.
Though no heat wave warning has been issued, six places in Odisha recorded temperature over 40 degree Celsius on Saturday. Malkangiri recorded a highest maximum temperature of 42.6 degree Celsius yesterday.
“The mercury is expected to hover between 38 and 40 degree Celsius in several parts of Odisha in the next five days while no heat wave warning has been issued,” Nayak added.
